Yes, it's in a case (Antec), and the power switch (when pushed) does start
the PSU. If I take out the CPU and turn it on (in which case it does NOT
shut down in a coupla sec.), the power switch will turn it off when held in
for 4-5 sec., as it's supposed to, otherwise I might suspect the switch was
shorted out. I may try yer screwdriver trick just to make sure.
At first, I had the sink & fan mounted on the CPU, since I wasn't
anticipating any trouble. With all the troubleshooting, I dismounted the
sink/fan from the CPU and have left it plugged in but upside down next to
the CPU, assuming that the CPU won't overheat in 30-60 sec. When, as, and
if I ever get it to boot as far as the vid sign-on and BIOS, I will shut it
down and remount it on the CPU.
