Hi Brian,
Yea, you read it wrong. All I am saying is that you might not be
able to edit the real licensed drivers. However, since we are changing
the way carsets are done (lists made from a pool of drivers), then you can
create new drivers. So, you could create all the 1997 drivers (bios, team
info, paint car, etc) from within the game, no problem.
Adam
Papyrus
: Adam, is there any limit on the number of new cars/drivers that can be
: created? Is it possible to have different cars for the same driver name,
: eg. for different years?
For that matter, will it be possible for players to insert their own
portraits into the driver info pages? I can see how some people would
like to have fun with it, like inserting pix of Rat Fink or their high
school yearbook photos.
Might be fun to have "official" NRL photos with "official" NRL caps, and
all that...

I'll agree heartilly with that. We still need y'all Tony. Lord knows I
can't paint cars like that ;-)

Not only that, all the sponsors won't be there. Because of the
FDA and past examples, there will be no *** or tobacco sponsored cars
in the game. We will all love racing against the Ford Motorsports #2, or
whatever it was.
If we can't repaint or edit the drivers, the game will suck.
Robert Pressley will not drive for Skoal next year. If the Skoal car was
in the game, which it won't be, Pressley would be driving it.
There's only one reason why this will happen. I could be wrong,
so I'll rephrase that to- there's usually one reason for this. Since you
can't update it yourself, if we want accuracy, we'll be forced to buy
NASCAR RACING 3, or an update disk next year, and the year after, ect.
It boils down to making more $cash$.
Just my $.02, but I should have saved it for the update disk in a
year.
-Bear
I hope that we can edit the driver info and numbers, after all I want to
see my name in the game, not John Smith.

Well, that is not really an issue. We never had *** or tobacco
advertising in our games. And I can assure you we have more sponsors in
NASCAR 2 than in previous Papyrus efforts.

Furthermore, they are not going to do the wonderful "past years" or

IWCCCARS will still be needed after the release of NASCAR2!

--- This is fine, but remember the audience they are selling to. First,
not everyone has internet access; second not everyone knows of IWCC cars;
thrid some won't care (believe it or not... in fact I bet there are many
out there still racing with the default cars!) and fourth (sad but true...
no I'm not breaking into a song here :-)) licensing sells products.
Papyrus would sell more volume if they could market more licensed cars
than if they included all generic brands.
---- not sure of the stats, but you may still find that, despite what
you see here and take for granted, internet and *** together would
still be a minority. Many more rural customers buy the games but have
no internet. BBS's may carry them, sure.
--- Not to be a stick in the mud, but just a point to ponder. Me? I
want a fully editable car set option ;-)
