GPL & Force Feedback

by Jim Blevin » Thu, 30 Sep 1999 04:00:00

I have upgraded GPL with the available patch and have followed the
instructions as to changing the force feedback switch in the core.ini
file to 1.  There still seems to be no force feedback though.

A couple of things.

1) My file shows to be named core.ini.sample or at least has a file type
of sample
2) I'm using a MSFF wheel.

Are there other changes that need to be made.  I'm using the same
profile as Nascar 2/3 and the wheel works great, but just seemingly has
no force feedback at all.

BTW, I set GPL to 1600x1200 to see what it would do on a PIII-600 and it
ran like an absolute champ.  8-)  Just ran practice at Monaco though.
Saw things I had never noticed before.

Thanks for any help.

You need to delete or rename your existing core.ini file and rename or copy the
core.ini.sample file to core.ini. Then edit the new core.ini file to enable the
force feedback.

Good racing,

Actually he just needs to copy his existing core.ini.sample to core.ini
(like
it says in the readme). The confusing thing is the default Windows explorer
attribute is for the filename extensions to be hidden so core.ini.sample
shows up as core.ini (when in fact it is really core.ini.sample). All you
have to
do is go to the explorer view/folder options. Then click on the view tab and
make sure the box for 'show all files' is checked and the box for 'hide file
extensions of known files' is unchecked.
