i've only known of hasbro for about 10mins since getting gp3 and i
hate them already.

if gpl can look good with a voodoo 2 and have a good frame rate, then
there is something wrong with gp ***ing 3's gfx engine..

the gfx on a voodoo 2 running gpl are better than gp3 with a top card
go figure..

gp3 is lame

While I do not wish to start a war here, what is wrong with Voodoo 2 cards?
While they might not be the most upto date now, there must be many computers
that use them and therefore they still have an important role to play in the
world of computer games. To publish GP3 with compatibility issues with the
V2 is short-sighted.

I agree, most developers today tend to rely on the fact that computers are
getting faster and don't optimise any of their code.  GP2 and GPL are good
examples of how a game should be written, but recently, many games seem to
just rely on 'brute force' and run awfully on a low spec system.

I might add that my P166 with Voodoo2 was perfect for hot lapping GPL and
playing GP2, now I have P400 with same voodoo2 and that is fine for GPL
races and GP3 hotlapping.  That Voodoo 4500 looks likes it's coming my
way...

OK, Hasbro are the new name for Microprose - you ever heard of them?

Voodoo 2's are on old card. New AGP cards use AGP texturing (unless its a
Voodoo 3) so all the textures are higher res and come from main memory,
not all stored locally ont he video card.

Try F1-2000 with both Voodoo 2 and an AGP card, or RallyMasters for
example - the Voodoo 2 version looks shite.

GPL was written specifically for the Rendition and Voodoo cards - it
wasn't designed for anything else - it won't work on my ATi Rage Fury
(although I believe there may be an OpenGL and D3D patch due out) - so
it's optimised for that architecture.

Don't get me wrong I'm not having at real dig at the Voodoo2 - I've still
got an SLI pair in here which are great on Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament,
it's just the quality is not as good on anything else..........
