No way, no how. Two players is laughable and three to four unplayable.

What?  I 've played 6 player LAN - no problems.  You just need high-spec
machines.  The game runs as fast as the slowest machine in the game.  If
you're finding two players laughable, then you must have a very slow PC or a
network config problem.

I agree, I have GP3 running on my home LAN here and two player works as
good as any other game on my LAN, good frame rates with decent graphic
options turned on.

I even had GP2 running ok (sort of!) on my LAN (with the old IPX LAN
patch) for two players.

My apologies... I automatically translated multiplayer to _internet
multiplayer_. The long and short of which is it doesn't work.
