Should I keep my 400pII or use one of the new cheap 500 celerons?

I have a P2 400, 128meg and a RivaTNT/Voodoo2 combo, and I'm not
really feeling pinched for performance yet.
What sim are you looking to improve? I basically run everything with
detail pegged on my current box.
I'm waiting for the P3's to drop some more. Jumping up 100mhz on a
current generation chip is much too lateral a move for me.

Good luck!

New Coppermine P3s are due out starting in October in both 100 and 133mhz
FSB.  The Camino chipset, needed for the 133mhz Coppermine chips, supports
both RDRAM and 133mhz SDRAM.  However, it should drop the price on the
current P3s a couple hundred dollars [or at least I hope :)] or so.

The Celeron 500 is PPGA only right? So $85 for a new board and like
$160 for the CPU. I think an OEM P3 500 is about that price.

100mhz won't buy you much...maybe a few FPS in your fav sim?

IMHO wait for faster cheaper P3's.

I think there is a Slot 1 to PPGA adapter, providing the board is
capable of running at 500mhz. Think the price is around $20.
I'd still make the leap to the P3 for the cash, though.

IMO, that's too small an upgrade to be worth the bother.

Wait a few months.
