Thanks for those who posted their insights on playing
RD2 with a gamepad. Bought the game and a dual-shock
pad and in fact it turns out to be very nice to play
with a pad!

I can see why people say it's not exactly a sim. Some
parts are quite arcadey but it's highly enjoyable stuff.
Except for the Formula Ford parts.. tell me.. are those
things really so uncontrollable? I'm zipping through
carreermode, but winning a FF race seems more like having
luck than good driving skills. At the most unlikely
moments you suddenly go into spin and that's the end of
the race.. <gr>

The graphics are fairly nice for a PC racer. It sorely
lacks anti-aliasing though (but maybe I'm spoiled by
the Gamecube which has awesome graphics, but lacks good
racing games). Sound is really great though!

I did okay on the FF races, in fact I liked them quite a bit better than
most of the other classes.  They are very drifty, you have to be ready to
apply lots of opposite lock on the corner exits.

Err...you can turn anti-aliasing on in your graphics card control panel.

If your PC is half decent it should wallop a Gamecube's graphics.

Yes, but then the game display corrupts to the point of non-playability.

True, although I hold RD2 would still look rather average, 2xAA 4xAniso
would help it a great deal.

Same here...I'm up through season 6 or so (I have it on the XBox, I
mostly wanted it to play on Live vs. my friends), and the Formula Ford
series are by far the most fun (and easiest) for me.   Well, DTM is
actually usually easier, but not nearly as fun.
