To any of you *** GPL, ICR or N2 types out there, here's a tidbit
that may indicate our readiness to jump into a CART car!! :-)

(this is from the Indianapolis Star, and pay attention to the last
paragraph!!)

"New track records have become an
annual event at Nazareth Speedway but that's not likely to occur
    this year.

CART is requiring smaller element wings for this year's race
which give the cars less downforce and more instability resulting
in lower speeds on the tight ovals at Nazareth.

"We are down nearly 65 percent in the downforce of our cars in
the corners," said driver Bryan Herta. "We are much slower at
the apex but actually faster down the straights because of the
    reduced drag in the cars."

Herta said "driving under new rules is like playing a video game.
You can see everything around you but you almost can't feel the
    car underneath you."

See! We can do it too, right??

You'd think Toad-fanciers would prefer IRL.........  :-)

Well the reduced downforce means us GPL drivers should be at the front almost
all the time!!!! :-)

DOH! Are them's fightin' words!??! Don't be pikin' on my wimpy V-8! :-)

Actually, no offense to John Bodin, the very nice IRL fan seen here on
RAS, that league appeals to me not.... I prefer CART anyday.

Nothing to do with cylinders, old boy.  It's all about that Toady
sound! :-)

That's my main gripe against the IRL too, those droning V8's.  At
least in CART they wind 'em up tight.

Case in Point:  A couple of weeks ago I made it to the AmericanLemans
race at Road Atlanta, and while there was a horde of Riley & Scott
MK3's circulating, all but one were running blatty-sounding V8's.  The
lone exception was the Team Rafanelli/Yokohama car, with a positively
shrieking Judd V10 in back. (with it's namesake creator onhand to
observe)   Guess who won.........

The coolest-sounding car always wins, you see!

No offense taken -- I've developed quite a sense of humor over the
entire CART vs. IRL thing.  They're two distinctly different series
these days, both with their own merits (and drawbacks).  Personally,
I'm too busy arguing the Viper Racing vs. GPL debate these days to
even think about the CART/IRL deal . . . <G>
