ICR2 tire grip bug questions

by Paul Sander » Fri, 24 May 1996 04:00:00

Can someone answer a few questions about the ICR2 tire grip bug for me?
As I understand it, the bug doesn't calculate weight distribution
correctly.  This leads to a loose car.  I also understand that the bug
corrects itself after about 10 or so minutes.

- does the bug reset itself?  In other words, you go in to the garage.
Does the 10 minutes start all over again when you start driving?  How
about if you practice at Nazareth for an hour and then go up a level and
practice at Portland?  Will going to Portland reset the bug?

- if it does reset itself (repeats), how on earth can I qualify well?  I
go to the garage to load up my qualifying car.

- can you just let the game set for 10 minutes before you start driving?

- does everyone see this bug, or only certain machine configurations?

- are certain tracks more susceptible to the bug?  I really notice it as
Nazareth.

Thanks,

-Paul

I have asked the same questions several times in this newsgroup- even
got Rick Genter to reply to a post, but still, nobody gave answers. I
*very* much want to know.

BTW, it's been out over 6 months, we should be in to about patch #3 by
now...  but there have been no updates at all. What is going on?
MultiPlayer distracted them?

It seems to me that it occurs every time you go into the garage. Maybe Rick
Genter can clarify this.

It seems to be more pronounced on the ovals. I usually just soften the rear
ARB and, if necessary, stiffen the front ARB. I gradually reverse the
procedure as the weight moves until the car finally balances out again.

I won't get serious about ICR2 until this bug, the problems under yellows
and the pace car problems are corrected. Rick, June's just around the
corner. Are we getting close enough to get an ETA for the fixes and the
Win'95 release?

Dave,

I really like your team name.  I live in Snohomish, WA.  I have about
50-60 trees
on my property (1 acre).  I have two extremely beautiful trees in the
front yard, but
I could never identify them.  Finally, a couple of tree 'experts' agreed
that they were
Sequoias.  They are rare for this area, but are they ever pretty.

Hey, thanks!  I live on 3 acres in the middle of a grove of Sequoia trees.
Lots of deer, raccoons, possums and other critters come out to visit us. My
favorite is an old owl that starts hooting about 10 PM every night not far
from our bedroom window. Lately, I haven't heard him much, he's being
drowned out by that V8 roar from my speakers while I'm dialed into Hawaii.

Interesting trivia note: "Sequoia" contains all five vowels.

The bug seems to reset everytime you load a track. I found at mich.
if i exit and enter the car handles differently, even after warming-up

I've noticed that After I play Duke Nukem 3D the bug seems to not be present. In fact
the cars seem to go faster and handle better. Could this just be a problem with DOS?
I play Duke for a while (15 min. or more), then stop and start ICR2.
