left foot braking....

From the Indy GP notes...

Kicking with both feet: USGP pole sitter Rubens Barrichello said one of the
reasons hes getting more competitive with teammate Michael Schumacher is
because he now can brake with either foot.

It is just like a soccer player who can control the ball with either foot,
Barrichello said.

Ive been driving a little bit (with) my left foot more since the
beginning of the season, he said. But Im naturally a right-footer, so
obviously Im kicking with both feet right now, and the driver who kicks with
both can do it better. Im doing it with both.

I have just got better as the season progressed

Thats why MS is so fast. He controls the car like a gpl alien, accellerate
while braking and turning to rotate the car.

I saw something last year comparing MS to RB, where they showed their
entrance ane exit speeds into certain corners, and MS was considerably
faster on all fronts and smoother because of left-foot braking. But,

I don't know exactly if I would compare MS to a GPL alien. I've seen some
GPL "hotlaps", and they do a lot of things I can't picture MS doing. I also
don't think MS is taking advantage and finding flaws in a fairly rudimentary
physics model. MS also has to deal with tire wear..

It's in F1 Racing magazine September 2003. At times he's (M. Schumacher)  at
65% brake and 40% throttle simultaneously. (Copse to Becketts)

Your statement is true to a point.

In the pre-race grid walk with Derek Daley, RB stated that he only
left foot brakes at 2 tracks. And at Malaysia, he only braked in turn
1 with the left foot.

He stated he was not any better off for left foot braking.

Hi Pez,

maybe the posting failed to appear on your newsserver, so I'm quoting it
here. Ian P pointed to it in a message posted a few hours ago in this

Just for a moment (which could just be a transitional thing) or for a
sustained, deliberate period?

It looks as though it's sustained. Definitely through Copse, Becketts is a
bit more transitional, but the brake is trailed off quite gently while the
throttle is pushed quite quickly (Though I slightly misread the telemetry in
the first post and it's 40% brake and throttle through the first part of
Becketts).

Is left foot breaking really that hard? I've never had a problem doing
it while placing race games on my pc. Maybe I'm just a noob, but I
couldn't live without doing left foot breaking.

I'm quite used to left-foot braking from racing karts and simming, but
let me tell you doing it in the family sedan is no good idea. I tried
it once for laughs and caused near-instant brake lockup, thankfully I
was on my own at the time ;-)

I wasn't paying attention to this thread so forgive me if I repeat
somebody else's thread.
The general consensus is that left foot braking is faster/quicker.
After-all M Schumacher does it right?  Most of the current F1 field
probably left foots it as well.  But we shouldn't be asking if Lf is
quicker...but is LF quicker for Ruebens?  I think we've seen in the last
couple of races that Ruebens is starting to challenge Michael more...so
while in theory LF wins...the comfort factor that Ruebens feels with
Right foot braking outweighs the theoretical advantage the LF gives.
Yes there is telemetry that proves MS enters corners at higher speeds
than RB, but in the race enviroment, RB is doing better with RF so theory
kinda looses to practicality.  Let RB be RB and he does well.  Force him
to be MS jr. and he won't.
