There is functional demo of NASCAR Racing at

ftp://wuarchive.wustl.edu/pub/MSDOS_UPLOADS/game_demos/nasdemo.zip

It allows you to take a couple of practice laps around an oval, watch a
reply, look at the (liscensed) opponants and change the detail settings.

I have always been an open wheel (F1/Indy) racing fan, but NASCAR is fun
to play.  The sound is nothing short of incredible.  Stereo digital
effects, good General Midi music. The driving is good, perhaps a bit
better than ICR.

There are definately some flaws in the demo. I came to a stop pointing
uphill on a bank, and with my throttle floored (I used the throttle wheel
on my flightstick for accelleration...btw, NASCAR has great control
setup), I could not even begin to climb the bank.  Also while rubbing the
wall at one point, I could not free myself regardless of how much braking,
turning and de-throttling I did (I did almost a full lap against the wall,
against my wishes).

I will buy the game when it comes out, and that is about as good a review
of any demo that I could give.  Hopefully the released game will be as
much better as the current demo as TIE Fighter was from its demo (though I
doubt it).  The game is scheduled to ship in late November (according to
Walden Software anyway).

Hope that helps.

The NASCAR Racing demo doesn't EVEN compare to the final product.  You'll
enjoy it.
