looks almost exactly like Grand Turismo, screenshots and chassis
adjustments big time, 6MB demo. It looks promising

As far as I can tell, it's the GT Physics model, ported to the PC, running
under just a different graphics engine.

But, this is a good thing!  :)    It's very impressive, and the first time
I've been able to try Gran Toursimo with a wheel...    very impressive..

Check it out...

Well, I could only test it with keys, but car behaviour seems very
nice, think GT or NFS:PU.

Cool, I can do 360 degree spins along the straight and still carry on -
using they keyboard!!!  How the F am I meant to set up my MSFF, the setup
menu is just gibberish!!  Oh well, lots of trial and error coming up then !!

Looks good ,

I manage to get it to work with my LWFF.
In the setup program there is a drop-down list for each axis, steering,
throttle, and brakes.
Just pick an axis in the list and then hit the button to the right of the
dropdownlist, and see if the marker is moving.
If it doesn't move try another axis in the list...;-)
The buttons to the right and left, above the axis, sets the range of the
axis.
Not quite sure what the center button does.
A bit strange though, I had to set the steering to move the opposite way in
the setup to get it to work right in the game ?

A part from that I think the driving model is great.
Sound is ok, but graphics are a bit old-fashioned,  GPL style...;-)

Can't find a reverse gear, if you spin and end up against a wall, there is
no way out of there...

Got it down to 0:59:379 on a flying lap sofar...

That's because Japanese cars have the steering wheel on the right ;)

p.s. I'm Canadian - this joke will fall flat in those countries that drive
on the left <g>

it pretty much looks and plays like Gran Turismo played on a PC with Bleem
(PS emulator) except the graphics aren't as good!

Thanks, managed to get it setup ok now, the 2nd and 3rd boxes up from the
bottom on the left are the change up and down gear keys, assign these with
your paddles of whatever.  Change down puts it in reverse after going
through neutral, just like GPL.

Can't remember my exact fastest lap, but I've got under 3 minutes for the 3
lap time trial, about 57.4 i think is my best.

How do you quit from the game, I have to use alt-tab then close it from
windows!!!

Keep selecting exit until it says 'Time Trial' then hit ESC and select exit
again.

You can bail out of a race by hitting return.

Thats what works here at least ;-)

I had big problems with my LWFF - It would only register wheel turns over
45.  My best lap is about 59.7.  Should be a bit of fun with more cars.

Try this
Drive along in 2nd at a reasonible speed, release accelerator, drop back to
first.  The car stays at ~7krpm for a while then slows down - weird

You could well be right, it certainly feels a lot like GT to play.  Pitty
the graphics aren't just a little better, it looks a bit dated.  For
instance, Sega GT has more polygons per car, and much more detailed tracks,
and that's on the DC, which is way less powerful than my PC (judging on how
Q3A runs on both), so clearly 'Real Car Simulator' isn't taking full
advantage of the PC.

The physics certainly feel excellent though, and with a good selection of
cars and tracks it would be well worth buying for me.  Hope the final game
can run in res's higher than 640*480 though, unlike the demo.

Got my PB down to 55.742 now :-)  Changing the gear ratios helps a lot.

That's the rev limiter, don't know how it actually works in real life but it
does seem a bit weird that the revs stay constant for a while, maybe it
slips the clutch or something to stop the engine overrevving?

You could try out Sports Car GT. With all the 3rd party files that have been
created there are lots of cars and tracks out there for you to try. Also the
physics are pretty decent.

If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend TOCA 2
(aka Touring Car Challenge).  It's a pile of fun.
