> The correct answer is Nitrogen, because it is inert, which means it is
> stable (does not contain moisture, nor any other contaminants) and,
> therefore, is a stable substance. Sort of like the difference between
> using tap water versus distilled water in your lead-acid battery.

They use something so secret that I would have to kill you if I told you. Or
in other words, CART will get it in 2005. In actual fact its.....nitrogen.

I was told by a source in the Players/Forsythe Racing Team they use air but
dry it with a mega buck machine.

Kevi

Trivia Question for the fun of it

by Kevi » Mon, 03 Jan 2000 04:00:00

All gasses will behave the same in a tire, except for two things:
1) If they react with the *** or other gas components, especially at
elevated temperatures.
2) If they contain moisture.

If the F1 cars use nitrogen, it would be because it is easy and cheap to get
dry nitrogen from any gas supply. Dry air is probably harder to come by,
unless you have your own drying machine.

In error I may have implied Players/Forsythe use air.  Cart uses Nitrogen.
I was told by Players/Forsythe that F1 uses Air, which they dry with a mega
buck machine.
