Nascar Heat Mods

by Paul Jage » Sat, 26 Jan 2002 23:40:11

Thought I'd go back to playing Nascar Heat again, until Nascar 2002 arrives.
Haven't looked at NH for so long that I've lost track of the best mods for
this game. Really wanted a sports car one and perhaps an open wheel one. To
save me downloading a large number of them, can any one recommend one or
two(and where to find them).

Thanks

PJ

Before I give this address, I must warn you.  Install Heat on the C:\
drive with all it's default paths.  DO NOT INSTALL heat on another drive
another subfolder or anywhere else.
2nd...before you apply any mods, make sure you get the 3 official beta
patches.  Theupits.com, in their tptcc files section has a patch installer
WITH the nocd included.  Start there
then go here
http://www.sim-editing.com/
CART Heat with the proper setups is cool, Dtm is great for tin top racing
and ISCH is a Le Mans type GTS level sports car effort.  Can Am is coming
and F1 and others.

How about DTM?  Get it at:

http://cartheat.bhmotorsports.com/DTM/

Not your average open wheeler (it's based in the 1930's), but I can
strongly recommend Spirit of Heat.

These are the two mods that I play the most.

Have fun :-)

You sure you need all three patches? I just reinstalled NH a few days ago
and only applied the last patch, 1.5a, game runs fine and ver say 1.5a.

I'd love to endorse SoH too. Only problem is that it and NH no longer want
to use my Thrustmaster FF properly. What I've seen on SoH so far while
observing from the wreck of my ALFA (hard right turn as soon as it crosses
start line) is impressive. Are there any known controller issues with SoH?
Or maybe I'll just reinstall everything again?

YES all three...there are some files the mods use that are NOT in the final
1.5a patch.

OK, I'm not using any mods though so it shouldn't matter, right? I do have
1.1e 1.5 and 1.5a patches if I ever want to try any of the mods. Wasn't
there also a 1.3x patch at some point? What if I just install these patches
again even though I have already intalled 1.5a? I think I should be ok so
long as I end on 1.5a because these patches just overwrite old files and
don't actually modify anything. Correct?

yes the 3 patches you should install are the 1.1e the 1.3 and the 1.5a.
The uspits.com in the tptcc file pages has self installing patcher program
that properly places all three patches in your NH  folder.  And it has the
added benefit of enabling the nocd hack.  Works with Heat and/or the mods.

OK thx, on my way to get that installer now. I think I have the 1.3 patch on
a cdr somewhere too. I took a look at that Spirit mod but at 53mb it's a bit
of a long download on my 56k modem.

It's do-able on a 56K modem -- I downloaded it myself last weekend
while watching a movie.

Yea, if it was one big file I could do it overnight while sleeping, but they
broke it up into smaller pieces so I can 't even do that.
