Game port devices do work in Windows XP, Dave, you just get minimal support
since the *.vxd file format which gives the user the tweaking is not
supported.  If a game has controller settings within it like Grand Prix
Legends, then the game port devices work fine.  USB is better, of course,
since you can installed the latest software, while game port functionality
depends on the game.  8-)
