Help N42k Championship Season

by Rush » Sun, 03 Mar 2002 14:18:48

I haven't been able to run a season due to the fact the game won't save.
How do I make a completed race "save" itself that I can move on to the next
race.  I pull into the pits after the checker and wait for a while but that
doesn't do it.  I am really getting sick of Daytona due to this problem.
The save button is "unhighlted" or inactvie when I hit ESC to get out of the
car.  When I hit "Done" the season won't progress to the finishing order and
hence, the next race.

Thanks in advance if someone can pinpoint the problemo.

are you running a championship season or just a single race?  If it's a
single race..there is NO points to save.  You finish, drive to the pits,
escape out of the car and start another event.

You don't have to save the race, it does it automatically when you leave
the track. You should be able to do the next race in the calendar, upon
returning to the champ screen.

Please read the problem.  I could not be more clear than I was. the ***y
game won't save a race in Champ season.  How hard is that to understand?

You don't need to save anything. When the race is over, you get out of the
car. When is says "Done" in green in the lower right corner, you click it-
the results screen comes up, and you continue on to the next race. I just
accelerated my way thru the first 9 races of a season(I don't race offline,
so I had to test it somehow)and it worked fine. The save button is only used
to save the qual results so you can quit and pick up from there.

How rude...

Read the ***y replies... you don't need to save the race to move to
the next one...once you're done, you just "click on the done button" and
the game will save the standings... don't understand your problem. I ran
a simulated championship (first 5 races) and was able to move to the
next one without a hitch. If you're looking to save a race that isn't
finished, you'll be disappointed. There's no race save feature (single
race and champ mode).

As far as the "save button" goes (the one I think you refer to is in the
left hand corner): it only saves the previous session position (i.e.
qual). Papyrus has not included a save race feature in their last
products, so there's no sense complaining about it.

How hard is THAT to understand?

May I suggest that you RTFM?  Also, being a little more polite would take
you a LONG ways.

I have the SAME EXACT PROBLEM as the original poster.  Started a
Championship season, ran the Daytona race, after the race was done went to
my pit like all the other cars, and nothing happened.  just sat there for a
minute, and then pressed ESC and got out of the car.  Pressed the DONE
button (or was it CONTINUE? - can't remember - whatever option was in the
lower right corner next to BACK), and no race results!  Back to the race
selection screen, and the results button for Daytona is still grayed out.
Tried to start the next race anyway at Rockingham, but the game kept putting
me back at Daytona in the Practice session, like I never ran the race.  What
a waste of a couple of hours!

I agree with the original poster - there's either something wrong sometimes,
or there's something we're missing.

From reading some older posts, now it seems that some folks have seen
theproblem when they saved the Qualifying results, left the game, and then
came back and reloaded it in Championship Season mode.  That's what I did -
practiced and qualified yesterday, saved the results, came back today and
reloaded the previous results to run the race, and then had the problem
where it wouldn't save the race, and it's now making me run Daytona again...

Is this a confirmed bug?

For now, I run straight through.  Practice, Qual, Race and everytime I see
the save button in red, I mash it.  So far, I have been able to progress.
