Thanks for your advice, Gerry.

I did get the wheel from PC World, so if I can find my receipt I'll take it
back without opening it.

Cheers,
Tim

Hi Tim -- Don't worry if you can't find the receipt, as the law only
requires a 'proof of purchase'. Which can be a bank or credit card
statement.

How noisy is your MOMO?

Thanks for all the advice I've recieved about my Momo.

In the end I decided to buy a screwdriver and attack it myself.
As suggested to me, the motor was very loose. One of the two screws had come
out completely and was rattling around, and the 2nd was almost out. In
addition, a piece of plastic had broken off the black plastic cowling around
the gears, and had fallen into the gears, mangling the main, white plastic,
gear wheel.

I pulled everything apart, and started off the repair by twisting the
mangled gear grooves back straight where possible, and carving new gear
grooves with a sharp knife. I then oiled all the moving components and
tightened every screew in the wheel.

The repair on the gears worked, and the wheel is also now much quieter. The
only noise is the usual whirring noise when the wheel is turned, however
there is now no additional jack-hammer type rattling when the FF cuts in.
The vibrations from FF are now silent.

Hopefully the wheel should last me another year or so, as it is very well
constructed. Pity it was never tightened properly when new.

Cheers,
Tim
