All races=38 opponents? (N1)

by ~Spyde » Fri, 28 Mar 1997 04:00:00

Was wondering if there was a way to make all races in Nascar 1
have the 38 opponents, including the short tracks which usually truncate
the drivers.txt list to 32 opponents?  Or is there a way to randomize
those who will not make the field without rearranging the drivers.txt file
every time?
It sucks trying to have a realistic championship season when 33 of
us make all the races, and the rest miss 4 (or whatever) races.
        Thanks.

"(track).txt".  Go into the file, and it will say "cars" or "opponents"
(I haven't done this for so long).  There is a number there, usually
around 33 or 39.  Change the number for both races to 39 (not 38, 39
includes the pace car).  I know this sounds a little difficult, but it
does work!  E-mail me if you have any problems with this!

Doesn't the number of cars include the pace car?  I.E. if you want to
race against all 38 A.I. opponents you have to set the number of cars in
the track.TXT file to 40 (38 A.I. cars + 1 player car + 1 pace car). In
a track like Wilkesboro, where the setting is 34, you will only be
facing 32 computer opponents. I thought about just upping each track to
the max of 40, but I really don't like this idea. I'd rather have a way
of randomizing the sequence of the last 38 entries in DRIVERS2.TXT, but
unfortunately that would also require a reordering of the cars.DAT file,
which is not a desirable task.

> Jeff,  You're right.  I looked back and it is 40 cars, not 39.  My

mistake!
