Making IRL from ICR2

I am still first and foremost, a CART fan, but for those of you like
myself who like games to be as realistic as possible here's some really
minor things I have done to create the IRL using ICR2.  First I copied
the whole ICR2 directory tree to one called IRL, as-well-as renaming
indycar.exe to irl.exe (wow that was hard.)  Next I unpacked the NASCAR1
sound.dat and copied fullloop.raw (or whatever) to the IRL's sound
directory and packed it...and waalaa!  Indycars with V8 sounds!  I have
only ran a couple of laps before I am posting this message so I hope
everything works ok.  Oh yeah, reduce the turbo boost down to 1 and you
will probably be lapping just as fast as the real IRL cars do.  NOW, if
some ambitious individual would rework the cars.dat file and make the
cars look like the IRL ones, that would be kinda neat as well!

Oooops, I just now looked at a replay of me using that IRL97 carset and
noticed that the 3DO files have already been altered!!  Also I obviously
didn't know that patched sound files were available.  I will have to
check all that stuff out!  Thanks for responding (at least I know
somebody is reading my stuff!)   :)

Hi Jeff!

Already taken care of!  Marcelo Bassino, who runs 'The Car Editor
Project' has done a lot of excellent work on the 3D car shapes in both
NASCAR Racing 1, and IndyCar 2, including some excellent IRL carshapes.
He, myself, Gary Godsoe and Tim Pinion have painted the IRL cars from
the first two '97 races and the carset is available from Marcelo's site
at:

http://www.ing.puc.cl/~mbassino/cep/index.html

also from Wes Dulaney's outstanding ICR2 CARS site at:

http://www.geocities.com/~wdulaney/main.htm

and also from my site at the URL below.

Gary and I are currently working on the next update, due hopefully
before the Indy 500 itself.

Done.I got the IRL carset from the Simproject and also altered my
Calender file to reflect the IRL schedule.Although some of the
tracks(converted Nascar tracks)are different I tried to match the track
closest to the configuration of the actual track.
