  What kinda cheats are there???

And also, why does the temp effect speed so much?  Air density goes
down?  Therefore less drag?

Dave.

Dave.

Tire temps go up which improves traction. NASCAR doesn't model air density
or the times would actually go down due to reduced horsepower.

Less dense air = less oxidizer for combustion = lower engine output

Another complaint I have is that there's no penalty for shifting. WC
drivers only shift at 3 tracks once their up to track speed: Pocono, Sears
Point and Watkins Glen. In the sim, in order to be competitive at any of
the one mile ovals and short tracks, you have to downshift to 3rd to get
off the corners.

I don't downshift at Martinsville or Bristol and I'm competitive.  I
don't even downshift at Pocono, usually 4th fastest.   I find that when I
try and run while shifting down in the corners, sometimes I forget to
shift up. :)

I shift at nearly every track that I don't have a loose car at.  I
usually set my car up tight.  On some tracks I just can't get rid of the
looseness coming out of the corners.  Like say at Bristol.  For the
first 10 laps or so after a restart, I don't shift.  The decrease in
torque helps to keep the car from getting loose.  Once the tires start
to stick, I start shifting.  There are a few other tracks that I do the
same thing at.  Martinsville is definitely not one of them.  I only get
loose once my tires start to wear out.

I hope NCR 2 simulates air density.  It shouldn't be too difficult.
Especially if they don't allow it to change during the race, which I
hope they do.  No track stays the same from start to finish.  Even
Sprint races change and they are only 10 laps.  It's amazing how much
*** can be put down on dirt.

    Actually,
with the the wheather set on 120 and no wind, you can hit upwards of 210
or more with a 4th gear set at 3.4  using no cheats.  So whoever it was
only hitting 202 -203 must be thinking of qualifing, most hit 202 in that
alone

Well now, I don't shift at the "one mile" tracks. Is there a gain there?? I
shift at Pocono and the road courses though..

I know that the WC boyz don't shift at the one milers either..

times pls..I am just curious ..Since you shift..

take care..

Julian,
Do you shift at Martinsville? I couldn't imagine running fast without
shifting there. Of course, I'm not that fast there anyway.

The temperature doesn't affect the AI cars so with the temperature
cranked up to 120 at Taladega, I can start last in a 39 car field and
still finish first in a 5% race. Try it sometime.
