no tcp/ip in gpl with multiplayer

by Andre Hanegraa » Tue, 26 Oct 1999 04:00:00

hi all,
i wanted to play an on-line race in gpl for th first time via the net. So
there i was my friend hooked up on the othr side and ready to rumble, well
not...:(
When in multiplayer mode there seems no tcp/ip connection possible?? i
cannot choose this/ But it is in my network settings.

My friend on the other side can just choose connect using tcp/ip using an ip
number. What is wrong with my computer. I'm on cable modem so my internet is
going out thru an ethernet cable.

Does anybody had this same problem and what should i do.

Thanks in advance

Hi Andre,

All of us cable internet users had the same problem.

Just add these lines to the core.ini file in your GPL folder...

[ Communications ]
alternate_ip_addr_lookup = 1

For good measure you may also want to set your packet size/rate to 84/3  (under
the Communications section as well)...

net_lan_client_send_every = 3                   ; Client packet freq on LAN
net_lan_client_send_size = 84                   ; Client packet size on LAN
net_lan_server_send_every = 3                   ; Server packet freq on LAN
net_lan_server_send_size = 84                   ; Server packet size on LAN
net_mdm_client_send_every = 3                   ; Client packet freq on dialup
net_mdm_client_send_size = 84                   ; Client packet size on dialup
net_mdm_server_send_every = 3                   ; Server packet freq on
net_mdm_server_send_size = 84                   ; Server packet size on dialup

Jason.

Add this under [ Communications ] in the core.ini file in your GPL
directory:

alternate_ip_addr_lookup = 1

Bart Westra
Also on cable in Amsterdam, but not when driving GPL online because of cable
hickups :(
