Hi everybody

I bought a T1 driving wheel about three months back thru Chips & Bits
and one of the foot pedal springs broke.

Could someone tell me how i can get a replacement.

Thanks in advance.

sending repair or tune-up parts. I never so much as paid a penny for shipping
those parts. They have phone support, but I don't have their number handy.

Send a note to Thrustmaster, I think their e-mail address is in the manual.
This happened to me (and apparantly many others).  I sent them a note on
compuserve and the springs arrived in the mail three days later.  Their service
is excellent.

You will have to drill out the rivets holding the pedal unit together (no problem
they are aluminum).  Taking apart the pedal whose spring broke and replacing it
is a little tricky, but just takes patience.  If you don't want to undertake
this, I believe you can return the pedals to Thrustmaster and they will fix
them.  I don't know who pays postage back to them.  It took me about an hour
to get the thing apart and the spring replaced.  You will need a pop rivet gun
to put it back together.  If you don't have one, a cheap one will cost maybe
$7.

You will want to limit the travel of the pedals to prevent the springs breaking
again.  I glued a 1.25 inch thick block of wood onto the little "porch" so that
the pedal wheels strike it.  This has eliminated the uncertain end to the pedal
travel and I think actually improves the feel of the pedals.

This is in fact what Thrustmaster recommends.  They admitted that the travel
is too much for the springs.

Mine arrived Saturday after a four-day wait, but I have no complaint.

I already had the pop rivet gun so that was no sweat.  It really is not a
difficult task.

And for those of you who haven't experienced this tragedy yet, either prevent
it from happening or write for your spirings today.  I didn't think it would
happen to me either.

I inserted a 1/4" strip of wood to the inside of the the unit before I closed
it.  This didn't require any mounting or gluing, and the unit still appears as
it did originally.  The pedals have a shorter travel, just as mentioned above.
It's an added feeling of security knowing the spring is less likely to pop in
the middle of an important race, as mine did.

This is true.  They will no doubt consider this in future designs.
