Nascar Charger wheel

I just got a Nascar Charger wheel for my 5 year old boy (can't reach the
pedals on regular wheels). Poor little fellow waited 2 weeks for it to get
here and now I can't make it work.
On one computer it shows it as being there but won't calibrate, on the
other it switches between OK and  not connected. Any ideas? I also tried
hooking it up as a 2 axis 4 button joystick, but no luck.
The little guy is making me real proud, though. I know he's heartbroken, but
he's trying to be real strong about it. He finally gets a wheel like the big
guys have and now he's still got to wait.

With the connected/not connected I had the same problem with the Ferrari
NONFF wheel.  All Idid was with the machine ON, unplug it and plug it back
and no more problems (except that excelerator doesn't calibrate in GPL to
1.00 effectively giving me a rev limiter)

Got it working. The newest drivers made it work on my computer, but on the
kids' computer it still didn't have gas and brake. I figured it didn't like
their Sonic90 soundcard, and luckily I had an old TM ACM gameport card that
I bought and never used. Plugged it in and it worked like a charm.
