Check out my Starting Grid home page at

I think that you will be suprised about the quality of the game.
It will blow the socks off GP2

I think they said that about the playstation game as well. I think you know just
as little about how this one will turn out as anyone else: NOTHING until it is
shipped!

I think we should wait and see....

I think too much,

And they were right (before you all delare a fatwa against me, let
me qualify that with IN SOME AREAS!).  I think the Murray Walker
commentary in PlayStation F1 is totally brilliant - your own personal
Murray Walker in a box - I love it!  The scenery and track modelling
is also considerably better than GP2 (check out the bump at Mirabeau
and the camber in the second chicane at Hockenheim, both lacking in
GP2), it has variable weather, it has a constant frame rate, and it
has some nice little bells and whistles (working Diamondvision screens,
for instance!)  I find it let down by exaggerated perspective, a rather
simplified physics model, limited setup options and no multi-seat
play, but I have no intention of binning my copy any time soon!

There are a number of other items which are "better" in some way than
GP2, but my point is simply that GP2 is not perfect, and a good team
working together _can_ do as good a job as King Geoffrey, and in less
time too, so don't write off Visiware (or Bizarre Creations) before
giving them a try.  I think it's a pity that Psygnosis has plumped for
a straight PC port of the PlayStation F1 game rather than enhancing
it to compete directly with GP2, but I'm still looking forward both to
the December release of Bizarre Creation's F1 for the PC (allegedly
with 8-player IPX, hope they don't pull the PC Wipeout trick again)
and to Visiware's release next year (with DirectX support).

Humm,

Feeling very vocal today are we?  Know nothing do I?  Think too much do you?
Actually, Visiware have been telling me stuff about the game which is
not on their web site.  I downloaded the Video demo of the game.  Did
you?  I think that it will be better that GP2 if the video is
anythink to go by.

Don't forget, the GP2 video (movie) was extremely representative of
the game, therefore, I assume the Starting Grid video was.  And if
this is the case, YES, it will blow the socks off GP2.

Really? I also downloaded the video and found it to be "okay". Who cares
what the game looks like, that is a purely secondary part of a sim. I
want a good looking game, indeed demand it, but if the driving model
sucks then it's another Screamer and straight in the bin.

A fairly wild assumption, wouldn't you say? Different company, different
product, different country, different culture - I'm not sure that
because GP2 did it, Starting Grid will do it too.

I'd love Visiware's game to do well and will help in any way I can to
achieve that (as I have said to them on several occasions), but let's
not be getting wood just yet :)

Cheers!
John

My only complaint about Starting Grid is that the cars look flattened, at
least
from what I saw.
