I would hope the CART boys do well, but unless most of the team is
IRL experienced, they will be operating at a disadvantage. Many of the
teams have been taking the same engines and chassis and tires to Indy
now for 5 years. That is a-lot of onsite experience the Gannassi team
just doesn't have. Sure they were there before, in the 'Good Ol Days'
but the two vehicles are so different, what they used back then just
doesn't seem to be relavent to me.
I DO know that a former Winston Cup Nascar teamboss is heading Chip's
IRL run. (interesting combo.)
Here's my forecast...
Vasser and Montoya qualify about 4th and 6th. The IRL hotshoes run away
early but pitstops and getting a few laps in brings the CART boys up to
near the front. Meanwhile Al Unser Jr. is just about to go a lap down.
But the leaders start bre
aking. Vasser calls for a wing adjustment but gets a round of Wedge
instead, and Montoya turns off at the new F1 Infield. One by one the
IRLegulars break and fade until Al Unser Jr. picks up his family's 8th
Indy 500 win.
copythis down somewheres and just see how close I get.
