Hi there,
I got new infos from Papyrus' Mike Lescault about their upcoming
Grand Prix Legends:
1. The AI cars will use a simplified version of the players 3d model,
but it will be much more complex than the one in ICR2.
2. Contrary to my expectations the 3d-cockpit won't bear down too
heavily on the frame rate, but maybe there will nevertheless be an
option to turn off the driver's arms. (But no alternative 2D
***pit).
3. The track will not 'pop' into view:
The clipping distance of the track will be extended compared to N2.
It will appear to you as if the track would be drawn fully ahead,
where in fact the track will be drawn only sofar as to create the
illusion of a fully drawn track.
4. GPL will not feature a paintkit.
5. The AI drivers' attributes will be editable. The format of that
isn't decided yet.
6. The cars will be able to catch fire, as Papyrus will demonstrate
in a short (10 secs.) AVI which hopefully will be out next Tuesday.
(A new full lap AVI will be out in one or two weeks, also!)
7. GPL will feature 320 x 200, 640 x 480, 800 x 600 and a couple of
other resolutions. Absolutely cool is that you can change the
resolution on the fly by hitting the 'page up' and 'page down'
keys!!!
8. Papy wants to be realistic with the mirrors, so we won't get
concave mirrors as in N2 or ICR2. In GPL you will have a large
blind spot on each side of the car! However, you can pan your head
to the left and right (which is not ideal while blasting away at
150 mph, but the main reason for doing this feature is that you
can check the track behind you if you span off and want to pull
back onto the track).
9. The CART Deal: There have been some doubts on r.a.s. to the
validity of the CART-deal news. Mike Lescault from Papyrus confirmed
to me that deal!
10. Don't forget to check out Alan Head's GPL webpage as he will feature
some new screenshots the next week (hopefully)!
Thanks to Papy's Mike Lescault for all the above infos!
Bye,
