Oh you mean the 1.1 patch for F1RS that they will make us pay 50$ for it ?

Apart from a little preview months ago (with the same graphics than F1RS),
there is no more informations about this titles.

I just don't see how with Gp3 this title could have a chance of competing
against it (IMHO)

By the time GP3 will show up we will be already talking about F1RS3...
;^)

Your right.  It's gonna be hard for F1RS2 to compete with GP3, since
GP3 won't even be on store shelves when Ubi releases their sequel.

F1RS2 will be released in this fall, and GP3 will be lucky to hit
store shelves in Spring '99.  My guess is you'll see it in the Fall of
'99 (just in time for F1RS3).

Marc.

Your totally  correct, hardly any copies of f1rs2 will be sold once gp3
comes out. That would be because it would be over a year after f1rs2 has
been released. Your totally correct.

I can understand some of you American customers are miffed because you
feel F1RS2 is coming out "too soon" after F1RS, but don't forget you
got your F1RS months later than European customers. If you are lucky,
you will also get F1RS2 half a year later than Europe, so there's
plenty of extra time for you to play F1RS. :)

I don't see any problem with F1RS2, since if it isn't much enough more
to justify its purchase after F1RS, I won't buy it. As simple as that.

Ok, considering that...

...I can't understand how you could jump into this kind of conclusion.
Is GP3 coming out anyway? Didn't Microprose deny its existence?

Nope, I live in Montreal, Qubec,  in the heart of all F1RS and F1RS2 (most
if not all the programming and testing was done here at the Ubisoft HQ).

It's incredible that the 100+ playtesters AND game designers AND programmers
arrived with this bugged product.  Most of those playtesters didn't know a
heck of what was a racing simulators, compared to other companies like
Papyrus where you nead real racing and comprehension of the physics of
racing, etc...  No wonder why F1RS is very bad at some points.

I have F1RS since November of 1997.

I know it will not be a major improvment.  It's like F1 to F1:CE.    Or
Burnout to the Burnout special edition.  They are just making you pay 50$
instead of patching F1RS (whos is clearly still way to buggy).  IMHO

Yeah but that's Microprose. And it's Microprose. Another time <all in
cheers>  "It's Microprose"  ;-)

Geoff told he is doing Gp3, and actually getting out of his multi-million
mansion on his private island to do it, so it has to be true.

Like I said, America. North America to be more precise. F1RS was
released much later in N. America than in Europe.

Yes, the menu system. But you really don't have to be a real racer to
give a fast and good menu system. F1RS with the newest patch simulates
real F1 racing quite nicely.

An imported Euro version.

How would you know? You said there isn't much information about it
yet. A fairy told me GP3 will be only slightly improved GP1, by the
way.

You really missed all those patches Ubisoft has already released for
F1RS? They appear to be supporting their game very nicely. What are
these critical bugs I should be seeing with the latest patch?

F1RS2

by ymenar » Fri, 17 Jul 1998 04:00:00

Nope.  I got it the same day as the Europpeen realease.  It is a
"Non-American" release, not an "Non-North America" release that happened
around November of 1997.  Heck Montreal is mostly where all F1Rs and F1Rs2
was done, you understand that ?

I agree, but compare it to GPL and It's very poor (especially the game
engine).  I will just say that with all the staff they had for F1RS the
final result was not what I was expecting compared to other companies with
less staff who made better racing simulator.

Yes but you have the wrong words...  It's the normal version you all have,
the Non-USA one, the same as I have.  I don't live in the U.S., remember...
There isn't a Euro version of F1RS, just a non-US version <g>

Can't you just understand that I know more than the typical Mr. Anybody
racer ? That I have seen more than about all of you about GPL, Nascar3,
F1RS2, etc...  but I am not in the possibility to talk about it ?  Im just
expressing my opinion that F1RS2 is just the first version with little bonus
added.   Grrrr.... ;-)

Try to email UbiSoft about a specific question.  You will receive the same
email as we all have.  Yeah good tech support they have <g>.   And yes their
playtesters and beta testers are soooooo good and know soooooo all about
racing physics that they had to do NINE patches to make it decent to race.
Oh btw... it's the last patch you will see about F1RS. So there is still the
cartoony graphics with high color contrasts, an absolute crappy replay menu,
some AI problems, a game engine that could be tweaked a little more, a
better way to re-arrange the menu system, some problems with the damage
engine when there is a player vs. AI contact.

Oh yeah those are minor things to add <g>
