To actually install it you need another step. After the files have
extracted you need to run something to install it. I believe it is
patch.exe, but it could be install.exe or setup.exe. Either way, just
run it and the upgrade will be complete.

You have to run Nascar in DOS mode, that's a fact. As for the CD
rom..for speed reasons I would recommend you keep to the disk. However,
if you really really need to run off the CD, then Create a icon shortcut
to NASCAR. The got to advanced in the program tab, click DOS mode, then
add your CD rom DOS command lines(MSCDEX) to your autoexec and config.
Then your CD will work when it reboots.

Also, has anyone had success trying to run it from the CD under Win95?
I had to do a hard disk installation because if I start my system in
DOS mode, it doesn't load my CD drive. Any ideas?

One of these days one would think that we would put together a FAQ.
But, I guess we are all too busy racing, painting, etc. Anyway, to
answer your question... You need to come to a COMPLETE stop in your pit
stall. This will recquire you to have the brake on to be completely
stopped. You just can't coast into the pit stall. Your crew ain't
going to run around and change lefts until they are sure you aren't
planning on running 'em over.

It sounds like your Win95 install hasn't hooked up a CD-ROM driver. Try
running "Add New Hardware" from the Control Panel. If this doesn't
detect your CD-ROM interface or brand, you may need to install the DOS
drivers in the config.sys and autoexec.bat file.

To those interested in an FAQ: Since I have yjis book and sometimes
have spare time, send me your questions and if they are covered by the
book or personal exp, I'll start working on an FAQ for the group. If I
am unable to answer question I'll mail you to let you know.

When you pit, make sure you come to a complete stop. Make your stop
where the top of your windshield "touches" the pit board (square on the
stick) the guy is holding. That will almost always get the crew to start.

I think I've finally got this situation under control. Now I just have
to master the driving. I really can't handle these turns. I can do it
during practice, but if I try to keep up with the big boys' speeds
during a race, I inevitably slam into the outer wall. What am I doing
wrong????
