I would like to know how we can make gear changes with the formula T2
is it the 2 button ? Somebody told me that the lever is just there for
appearance and does not move.

Is it true?

No, not true.  You can upshift AND downshift  with the lever.

I'll expand a little.  The shifter is sequential, a lot like a
motorcycle.  You tap it back one for each higher gear you want and up
one for each lower gear you want, or in NASCAR Racing you can set the
direction you tap it to determine if you are shifiting up or down.
