Help with Grand Prix 1 Racing Wheel

by Janelle Broyle » Wed, 25 Jun 1997 04:00:00

I have a brand new P200MMX and am running Win95. I have got Nascar v1 to
run in a dos mode but I cannot get this Thrustmaster Grand Prix Racing
Wheel to work. I am not running a special game port card. I have
contacted Micron (my computer manufacturer) and they were very helpful
in getting everything else to work in dos mode. I contacted Thrustmaster
by email and never received a reply. What can I do to get this to work?
I can calibrate it in Win95 but everything I try in dos mode doesn't
work. Any help would be grealty appreciated.

Thanks,

R:

You probably have OSR2 and there is a known bug with the joystick routine with
Nascar 2 V1 and OSR2. The patches for N2 fix this. I would guess 80% in your
situation had this problem. I was one with that problem as well. I replaced
OSR2 with standard Win 95, since at that time the patch was still a country
mile away...

I think what you are describing is 180 degrees from what most people had
problems with.

You say it works in Win95, but doesn't work in Dos.

I've seen this once and it was related to hardware conflicts.

First make a list (if you can) of what functions your motherboard
provides for
you, and what your add in cards provide.  You are looking for
duplicates.

The example I ran into was a printer card and a sound card both had a
joystick
port.  Windows somehow made just the Soundcard port work while Dos
couldn't
clear up the problem.

Once the joystick port on the printer card was disabled, the joystick
port
on the sound card was usable in Dos.
