[AI] Help

Hi everybody

My only problem is that AI are TOO good with cold tyre ! When mine are
hot i can follow them and even beat them ( my best place is 2nd at Spa,
in Pro Medium ). I can qualify good ( 1st to 6th place ) but AI often
crash me from rear because i'm very slower than them in the first 5/6
laps and my car is very large at the first 5/6 laps :o)

TweakAI don't works on my computer, it says that it could'nt find a
peripheral or something like that. And i don't know if i can only tweak
AI values for cold tyre.

Please Help!

The problem is the AI is too fast on the first lap or two.  They
aren't affected by cold tires much, nor a full fuel load.  The main
reason why their laps are slightly slower on the initial laps is
because of the standing starts, but their cornering speeds are very
close to what they'll run later into the race.

Well, i know all about that, what i need is something to correct this before
i launch
my PC through the window when a AI crash me from behind ! :o) Because it's
not fair that i'm affected by fuel load and cold tires and AI don't !

I drive VERY cautiously for the first lap or two.
If they are too close behind you, LET THEM PAST.
I brake early and off the racing line when someone is behind me to make sure
they don't clobber me from behind.
Within two laps you'll be able to catch them and pass them again.
Dicing with the AI for the first lap or two is suicide.

Cheers,
...Colin

Well i like simulation because it's close to real, so i would prefer a solution
where the AI are slow down the first 2 laps instead of me being very cautious
the first 2 laps.

Any solution ?

In a word, no.  You're not the first to notice this, or the first to
complain about it.  Life (and coding) are not perfect, I guess.

Does Schumacher always bomb it out the first laps, only to spin off with
cold tires in a surrounded pack?

As a very wise racing driver once said (JYS ?):

"You don't win the race in the first corner, but you may very well loose
it."

Or something like that

Well, i don't spin off with cold tire, i make no fault and i'm very cautious,
the AI are not cautious at all and crash into my car . I always keep my lines.
I always see replay when it's happen.

With that problem you can't use real tips like "you don't win in the first
corner" because race's starts are not quite simulated in GPL. AI are bad on
starts and too fast on first 2/3 laps.

I was only hoping for a solution that could make GPL more realistic. If there's
no solution, well i'll continue to drive my way :
1) big start jumping from 5/6th place to 1/2/3rd place.
2) try to keep my place but not at all costs
3) let's pass Surtees before he crash into my car :o)
4) after 2-5 laps fair battles.

Don't be worrying about the AI, just hop on over to VROC and race some real
intell....
(hang on I nearly said we were intelligent <G>)  ..... real people I mean :)
Just try to avoid the Monza demo derby's that are going on.
