Qualifying records are only saved if you run the race, but you can hit
escape right at the start and accellerate time.
In either case, once you reach the end of the race, select "lap
records" (not "fastest laps"), and you will see "(Record)" under
anything which the game will save.

But are they? There's a bug such that often they aren't - my copy
reports the `default' Lap Records for Qualifying and Race laps
however much I try to Load/Save external files. I've taken to
keeping the records in Excel ;-(
