Question is, will it be widescreen. :(

I'd kill for a copy of this & Le Mans in widescreen.

Sadly, only Le Mans made it too Laserdisc...

At the Blockbuster in my neighborhood, it's available ONLY in widescreen.

I remember I saw  a Zone2 version of both LeMans and Grand Prix at a store
up here. If they are available in DVD, I would suggest them to everybody.
They probably have the correct widescreen ratio (almost in 70mm), a making
of, some production stills, and who knows maybe even the soundtrack.

I wish I had a Zone converter for my DVD

The original was done in "Cinerama" format....multiple overlapping of the
screen. I *think* it was 3 projectors, 120 degree wrap around screen.
Serious. I saw it when it first arrived in Columbus, Ohio. Was just a kid.
Still have the original full color show program. Grand Prix was the first
use of the multiple frames onscreen. Common now, but not back in the
mid-60s.

|I bought it on >>>wwwiiidddeee ssscccrrreeennn<<<
|It's wonderful. <snip>

Speaking of films, has anyone here got any details of a Paul Newman film
based on an Indycar season, or if it is available on video. I remember
seeing it as a kid but nobody else I have spoken to seems to remember it. I
think the film was called winners if I remember correctly.

It's called "Winning"

It starts off with a Can-Am race at Road America.  Paul Newman wins.  After
the race he meets Joanne Woodward (his r/l wife).  They quickly fall in love
and get married.  He adopts her son (John-boy from the Waltons).

The rest of the race is about the Indianapolis 500.

It's not a bad racing film.  It's not great, but it is not bad, either.

Right.

BTW, just another correction: it's Reims, not Rheims. ;-)

Wish I could say the same.  My Blockbuster has never even heard of it.

Off to Sun Coast Pictures I go....
