What is the "end it all" application that is heard here sometime? As I
understand it the program ends all background apps for improved sim racing. Is
it a download or something to configure? TIA

From the Help file:
"Some programs, particularly install programs, ask you to terminate all
other programs before proceeding. Often it's sufficient just to close
visible applications like your browser or database. Sometimes, though, they
really want you to terminate all
programs (except for Explorer and the system tray). This is an extreme
step, but sometimes you just can't avoid it.

In Windows 95 or Windows 98, you terminate a program by pressing
Ctrl+Alt+Del, selecting the item in the task list, and clicking End Task.
You have to tediously repeat this process for each program. You don't have
to reinvoke the Task Manager in Windows NT for each program, but its display
can be confusing. In either case, it can be hard to tell just what each item
in the task list represents. Who would guess that "msimn" is Outlook
Express, or that "rnaapp" is Dial-Up Networking?!

EndItAll handles the job with the click of a button. It does its best to
terminate every program except Explorer, the system tray, and itself. Its
main window lets you know exactly what's happening."

So it doesn't do anything magic but is just a short cut and is ideal for a
luminary of the Institute of the Technologically Impaired as it shows you
which tasks can safely be closed down.

It's something to download that shuts down all non-essential programs to
free up as many resources as possible for your games.

Take a look at your system tray (probably bottom right hand corner by the
clock).  If you've got a load of icons there then you have a load of
programs running.....

You can get it in loads of places, including

If I let every program that wants to load a tray icon I would have 500
tray icons and at least 300 hidden programs running in the background.

I have it, but it has the odd side effect of not letting me
completely shut down my computer when I turn it (computer) off.
I then have to manually force it to shut off, which causes it to
look for errors after the 'improper' shutdown...  I'm probably
'ending' something which I shouldn't (anyone have a clue?)...

My computer will do the same thing if I terminate Norton Anti Virus. It will
not shut down. I hope this help.

866 Dell with ME.  As per the other poster I
also have Norton (which a couple of times decided
to switch on in the middle of a race-after 30 seconds
of a hung screen, I come back to find my car
wrecked in the meantime), but EIA won't let me
turn that off...

well, I "finish" EIA with the ctrl+alt+del and get rid of 2 anti viruses
things....

do the same, once EIA is done with make a ctrl+alt+del and remove what's
left beside explorer and systray

Good race

Just restart your puter then shut it down. I know it's an extra step but it
works.

Run msconfig and turn it off by stopping it form loading permanently
under the startup tab. Just run the virus checker manually in the
future. I use F-Prot (free dos version) and it loads nothing into
memory except when I want it to scan.

I believe Windows not shutting down correctly is 'normal'.. Allmost
everyone I know seems to have this problem. Once I saw a 'fix' at the
Microsoft site, installed it, didn't help. Oh well.

To get rid the shutdown problem, try disabling the Advance Power Management in
the control panel.  Win9x sucks when it tries to do that... :(
