ok.. heres the low down.
If I was you, upgrading from a 66, I'd buy a pentium 100.  I'd buy the
motherboard, and chip. I could do it around here for close to 500$ A
cheaper way to get svga, with less $, is a 486/100.  Same deal, you need a
new motherboard, and cpu.  I paid 355$ when I upgraded.  Note, that if you
have the "OLD" mem (30pin) youl need to get new mem, 72pin.  If I had to
do it over, like I said, right  now, I'd buy a perntium 100. I hear it
runs slick as snot on a p90 too.

I have a 486 dx2/66 with 16 meg ram and 2 meg video card.  The game
runs too slow in svga mode.  Q: is anyone running a intel pentium
overdrive 83MHz?  How is its performance?  Do you have Need for Speed?

Another Q:  What do I need to upgrade to make my $3000 outdated piece
of SH*T run this in svga(with an acceptable speed)?

Thankyou,

Art LaBelle

PS it runs fine in vga mode, but I'd like to use the svga mode.
