ICR 1.05 woes

OK, so I've got ICR and the Indy tracks pack and I'm ready to go, but I've
discovered a problem: whenever I get near or crash into a wall, ICR slows
down and stays slowed down or occasionally just halts the processor in
mid-race. Needless to say, since I spend so much time crashing into walls,
this is very annoying. Here are the specifics:

386DX33, 8meg RAM, Conner HD (not compressed), MS-DOS 6.2, PAS 16 Basic,
CL 5426 ISA video.

I have tried a clean boot (via F5 at startup) and boot with just
himem.sys, all to no avail. It should be noted that there is another HD
(Maxtor 7120) that has been DoubleSpace'd, but it is not a boot drive, nor
does ICR reside on it.

Any help is appreciated!

While I appreciate that people don't want to share their setups, could
we discuss what different things generally do?  For example, what happens
when you change the gearing?  For example, what's a circumstance when I'd
want to change gearing?  I gather that I'd want more RPMs in a gear if I'm
planning to accelerate in that gear, and fewer RPMs if I'm going to use it
to cruise to the flag with a 30 second lead.  But is there another set of
criteria?  (I have this sort of question about nearly all of the settings!)

Yes, I have RTFM'ed, and I do know that it depends a lot on driving style.

Discussion is what the groups are all about.  We'd all probably learn more
from talking abou tthe actual physics and mechanics of the cars and in turn
become better setup chiefs ourselves.

BTW, I think it woulld be a great idea if everybody would mark their posts
with a header identifying the racing sim they are discussing, for instance:

ICR               IndyCar Racing
F1GP or WC        World Circuit
ALL               All Racing Sims in general

Just a suggestion, it works with other groups.  Not that there's a LOT of
posts in here to cause people to get lost, but just to confirm what sim is
being discussed.
