I heard lots of good stuff about ACT-LABS force RS, so I got one, and
it is fantastic when it is supported, but unfortunately, on 1/2 of my
games it isn't and then it blows chunks.
I was very happy with my saitek R4 or a freinds's logitech FF, FWIW...

Generally, the ACT force RS seems to get the most praise here,
followed by the Logitech and Guillemot. The Microsoft Sidewinder
often gets criticised for the load it places on the processor. But
all four have there fans and critics on here. I doubt you'll get a
defintive answer.
After going to my local store, I pretty much picked the one that
I liked the look of best - which was the Logitech. So far, its provided
12 months use without any hassle.
However - I would just point out that in terms of precision, my old
Thrustmaster Sprint felt much tighter than the logitech - I wonder
sometimes if the FF actually adds that much.

Don't bother with the saitek, I used to have one, went through 3 actually
before finally getting my money back and buying a Logitech which i am
extremely happy with. Oh I actually like the pedals on it too, the base is
big enough at the back to not need something wedged behind and has rest to
put my left foot when its not on the brake.
