Thrustmaster GP1 vs. T2

Well know I can give an actual hands on review of both.

Quick Answer:

Winner=GP1

Short Story Why:

The accelration and brake controls behind the wheel (GP1) smoke the foot
pedals of the T2. Even though I'm very impressed with T2, I'm even more so
with GP1. I'm amazed at how well you can finely and quickly adjust
acceleration and braking with your hands. You can come up really heavy on a
car and with ease let off accel and break much much quicker than with the foot
pedals. Then get back on the acceleration. Really it's great to control and
wonderful to watch at how close you can now get to a car and not sweat. The
more control I get the more realistic NRL is to having gords of human players
on the track.

Both are great but I recommend the GP1.

Now some may swear by authenticity of pedals and a shifter, that I will not
argue.

Interesting, due to a shortage of T2's in stock I am buying the GP1 today,
I assume I can always add pedals later.

It would seem that shifting and changing acceleration might be a little
more difficult on the GP1 as they are both on the sterring wheel...Yes or
no ?

At first, Yes.  After some practice, No.   I race Indycar 2, which keeps
one shifting
more so than Nascar.  What worked for me was to practice several laps with
an
automatic transmission, allowing me to get used to the gas and brake
paddles,
then bring back the manual ***.

It doesn't take long to get the hang of doing it all with your hands.  If
Indycar or
Formula 1 is your game, I'd reccomend the Grand Prix 1.

One thing I like about the GP1 is the shift buttons on the wheel.  I
usually use the automatic transmission in N2 (since you spend 98% of
your time in 4th anyway <g>), and I use my Thrustmaster Mark II to
program the shift buttons to check my lap times, standings, tire
temps, and tire wear.  It's EXTREEMLY nice having this info right at
your fingertips when your racing.  For the tracks that do require
shifting, I have an alternative setup that uses the buttons for
shifting.

I also use my CH Pedals instead of the paddles on the wheel, and this
works great for me.  I think the GP1 setup with the CH Pedals is the
best setup for the money, especially if you play other games such as
flight sims that can also use the pedals.

When you do get those pedals, get the rudder setup made by CH...
They're a much better product, and you won't be going through so
many pedal springs as the T2 (BTW, I'm not sure you can purchase
the T2 pedals by themselves...?).

I don't want to mislead anyone, but I'm pretty sure you can add the
pedals (of the T2) to the F1 wheel set. Anyone confirm/discredit this.
If this is true then you could buy the F1 then add the pedals later if
you were not happy with the hand controls.
Its worth a thought.

I got the GP1 because I couldn't drive with the damn t2 pedals.  GP1 is
fine with since you can steer with your palms, shift with your thumbs
and accelerate/brake with your fingers.

You can't add pedals to the GP1.

It already has hand brake and throttle built in.

Believe me your getting the better product with the GP1, it has better control
over the T2 and cheaper.

I prefer the T2; however, I have modified it so I have my shifters on
paddles behind the wheel.  I'm working on a button for a 5 to 2 downshift
as well.
