The current G-Force IRL car is by Simon Marshall and Ben Bowlby, who are also
the designers of the current Lola CART car.
The chief designer of the Dallara IRL car is Luca Pignacca, one of the most
accomplished race car designers alive today.
We are not discounting the abilities of these designers, but the rules
framework they must operate under could be the culprit. Realize too
another problem...these cars were designed to run about 220mph tops. Now
with the former CART engine suppliers onboard, the irlbuggies are far
exceeding that speed. No *** theories yet, just an observation, the
lap times this year were way lower than seasons past. Perhaps the design
limits of the irl spec have been breached.

Where did you get this information...or is it opinion?

Bruce.
How many F1 design strings does he have to his bow?

I would try to find out, but i would guess by your response...ZERO? :)
Mike
YEs just opionion based on the speeds I think they were turning at most
tracks. I think they qualified at around 221 at Indy for the first few
years and at Texas, where the CART cars were exceeding 230mph and causing
G-force induced near blackouts...the IRL cars were under 220mph there in
past years. So I was guesstimating the design spec speed target. Which I
think has been exceeded.

Dave, just came from the Dallara website and they said the cars are designed
for 240+ speeds. Certainly not much more than 220, but within the boundaries
of how fast they have been going.
ok good digging. Thanks
Bruce.
