I see you've had one idea from a De Montfort student. Hope this one
helps. If you [or anyone else] are/is looking to improve you driving you
could do a lot worse than check out Steve Smiths Grand Prix Hall Of Fame
- www.gamesdomain.co.uk/f1gp/hof.htm - I think. From there you can get to
many f1gp / wc sites for advice and hints on how to improve and compete
against people from around the world. Here you can find the fastest
setups in the world. If you think you're good at WC / F1GP have a look at
the qualifying records (1m11.225 at Monaco)........and send some times
in,it's just for fun and most competitors will respond to questions. It's
not that serious!
Anyway, I drive with all aids off Traction Help Included. The quickest
drivers in the world (top four anyway) as in above hall of fame do NOT
use traction control.
When exiting a corner get the power on early and go as wide as possible (
i'm sure you know this) and straighten up at the edge of the circuit,
this can involve steering left - right - left -right.... etc... just to
keep the car going straight. If you don't already as soon as you want to
go straight from a corner steer the OPPOSITE way. Eg if exiting a slow
right hander steer left for a split second as soon as you want to
straighten up. Also changing up a gear at this very moment can reduce
wheelspin, although it is not often at an ideal point in the rev band.
Above all not tap the throttle when accelerating... unless you are
feathering it round a corner. Just get on the throttle and stay on it -
use the front wheels to keep it tidy.
If anyone else has any questions, ask me [in term time,i'm a student], or
visit the page and it's links shown above....
Hope that helps
