Well, it's finally here in the UK. Hoo-bleedin'-ray!

Now, what's it like? The faster CPU you have the better it will look.
This might seem obvious but those lower powered PCs out there won't
really be of use to run the game in VGA mode. In comparison to the
SVGA delights, VGA with all the details on and running at 20fps looks
crap. It's almost impossible on certain circuits to see where the road
is turning due to some weird dithering that seems to turn each pixel
into a blur of 4 pixels. Yuk.

My machine is a p100 and for 18fps in SVGA I have all textures turned
off except for roads and trackside stuff, and trackside detail set to
low. In this mode, the cars remain textured etc and the game is fast
enough to be playable. Processor occupancy hovers around the 80% to
120% mark depending on what's going on. Crashes are particularly CPU
intensive. But the look excellent.

Graphics: very good, unless you are viewing it in VGA in which case it
isn't. If you are looking for the crispness of F1GP1 here then forget
it. SVGA is quite fast considering what's going on in the background.

Light-sourcing is very good indeed, as is the rolling etc. I like how
busted cars and wheels everywhere cause more accidents too! :)

Sounds: not bad. It doesn't sound like digital doppler stuff to me,
but then who knows. You don't hear the other cars. :(

AI: pretty good. Best driving AI I have encountered.

Manual: okay. Typical microprose type.

Worth getting? Does a bear shit in the woods?

(vrrrommmm!!! crunch)

Oh well.
