Sears Point ...N3....Papyrus!

To all the employees.....at Papyrus...and to all the ras'rs:

This is sort of an apology...well not really because I didn't saying anything
bad or wrong....maybe sort of an "acknowledgment" of a good job....one that I
didn't expect.

Let me first say....this newsgroup has been difficult to access for the last 36
hours....I've tried a few times to make this post...and it hasn't been sent.  So
I didn't forget to do this.  I can promise you that the first place I went after
installing the N3 program (I've had it since Thursday afternoon) was to Sears
Point.  As many of you know...but for those that don't.....I live about 10
minutes from the track....race there...did my first professional race there
(kind of like your first girlfriend....never forgotten).

Well, as the screen shots I saw a few days ago show......the track is
unfortunately still green.  Why you guys keep doing this...?????  But...that is
the last thing that needed fixing from my "list" of a few days ago, posted to
this newsgroup!

You guys (and gals) have done a totally awesome job of cleaning
up...fixing....adjusting the N99 Sears Point track for the N3 version!!!!

I understand the "game engine" limitations that you were working with (N3....is
the N2 game engine which requires tracks to be "horizon
texture/wall/grass/track/grass/wall/horizon texture" ...and for that reason you
couldn't remove the track-side walls completely where needed (Turn 7 through the
esses and in Turn 11).  But you did an excellent job of moving them back off the
track!  Bravo!

Also...all the buildings are in their correct location...and "dressed" very
accurately now!  [Although...I must say who ever made the decision at the Jim
Russell School....that led to the name being removed from their building.....is
a complete idiot!....my gosh....you see it every time you come down the track
out of T10 into T11.......talk about the best form of subliminal
advertising...maybe on the planet!  Somebody at Russell really screwed
up.....and I'm calling Kjell tomorrow (the owner) and telling him what a huge
mistake they've made.  Maybe I can put the name back on the building....include
that in my patch.....?  Kjell and I are about the same age....so I can call him
a dumb ass......and get away with it....lol]  The hillsides surrounding the
track (wrong color) are accurate as to their configuration and "look" from the
***pit when racing at Sears.  The trees have "grown" just about the way you've
done them in N3......  Bravo, bravo, bravo!

I am still going to work on the trackside grass coloring and surrounding
hillsides.  There's a couple other "minor" things that could use some fine
tuning detail.  I will work on these....and since I have about a zillion hours
already redoing the previous N99 Sears....I hope I can complete this fairly
soon.

I don't expect you (Papyrus) to spend any more "resources" on the N3
sim....unless of course there's a huge "patch" or something needed...but early
reports don't seem to indicate big problems for N3!  So I'm not going to ask you
to fix Sears.......I'm going to do it.  And, I promise I'll send you all the
files.....you can load them into the track...and if you like them...or they meet
your "standards"......I will let you release them as an official Sears Point
"patch" from Sierra (or Papy)....or anyway you see fit to do it.

This is a small thing..... I know.......but its the only way I know how to say
"thank you" for all the work you did in N3...and on the Sears track in it!

Regards,

Tom Pabst

They just released a huge patch for N99 that cost me $49.99. Well worth it,
but I would have rather just paid the $100 up front and had this version a
year ago.
