Wow, just had an excellent jaunt at Monza on Tim Arthur's cable modem "network"<g>.  Top four finished within 5 seconds of each other in a masterfully clean and fast race up front.  I ran mostly 130's with a few 129's and still could not pull these guys in.

Knowing how hard it is to drive these cars and seeing a group of almost 18 guys do it together online is mind boggling.  Getting within inches in Nascar 2 is one thing, getting within inches in GPL is an entirely different animal.  Just a matter of time before league pop up, I hope.

Again thanks to Tim and kudos to the good drivers in the race.

P.S.  Randy Cassidy from Papyrus was spotted at Monza also...how many producers of other games have you had the pleasure of competing against??  Papyrus continues to be a class act.

A big thank you from me as well and my apologies to Randy Cassidy for
dumping you going into the Parabolica at Monza. My bad. ;)  The racing was
great and the warping wasn't too bad on my crappy 33.6 connection. I
actually had some good wheel to wheel racing  action with a couple guys.

think anyone would be interested. I will try to have the server up more days
as well. If I do, I will post the days and times on rec.autos.sim
C ya next lap!

Yes, very good race guys, and you too Rhawn, I was the guy in the
Eagle ahead of you that came in third place and we had a nice little
battle going while catching the two leaders, good clean racing with
no contact amazing!

Thanks to Tim McArthur for having the server up and to the drivers who
were taking part and were driving cleanly.

Just a reminder to people to take it easy on the starts and try not to
cause a huge pileup, much better not to push until the tires warm up
than to take out the whole field at the first turn. Great racing.

I'll second that, thanks again Tim.

I had a great time in the Mexico GP. Unfortunately though, I got booted
2 minutes from the end of practice at Monza and I couldn't get
reconnected :(

You mean that you actually connect from Aussie to his "server" in the US
?

If so, WOW, is there much warping on your end and what is your average
ping to him ????

Last night the Aussies seemed to be getting around 450ms latency,
the warping is not that bad for them.
i was getting from 550-800ms depending on how loaded the net was.
i watched a race, rather that driving in it, and after a while i
noticed that some cars had less warping than others, then after the
race i asked the drivers what their latencies were and it turns
out that the cars withmore warping had more latency. 200ms latency
was giving a very smooth car to watch while 400ms was making a fairly
jittery warping one, so i would hate to see what my car looks like
to everyone else when i'm at 800ms latency :) I just try to give
everyone as much room as i can so i don't cause a problem.
