Rendition based ICR II

Rendition based ICR II

Pardon me if this is a really stupid question, but I was
wondering if the Rendition compiled ICR II will also work
on a non Rendition card.  I'm very tempted to grab Intergraph's
$149 deal which expires 12/31, but it's probably going to be
a couple of weeks before I complete building my new Pentium
machine.  Until that time, I'd still like to play ICR II on
my plain vanilla machine (I figure the full ICR II would run
comparably to how the demo does on my current machine).

I also kinda don't like the thought of being locked into a
specific chipset if I want to keep a specific game.  Wouldn't
want to have to buy a new copy if ICR II should I ever run a
system with a different video card.

Thanks.

No, not stupid.  The Rendition version only comes with the
Rendition-specific executable (see, aren't you glad you asked?).
One idea -- I *think* you could use the 15 non-enhanced tracks
included with the Reactor card with the demo so you'd have all of the
tracks available to you.  Also, The Pits WWW site has a ICR2Demo
Editor, so some features can be enabled/disabled to make the demo a
bit more functional.

A valid question, one that you'll have to assess for yourself.  For
me, the benefits of the Verite version of ICR2 and N2 make it tough
for me to consider giving it up (I built this PC 6 weeks ago
specifically for the Reactor, it hasn't had any other card in it ;).

BTW, the 3D bundles (both Reactor and Screamin' 3D) do *not* come
with a manual for ICR2.  I've got the old ICR2, so I've got the manual
and I've already read it, so I didn't miss it, but YMMV significantly.
Sierra is supposedly making the manual available for a nominal fee,
but its a consideration.
