Best drivers for nVidia 4400?

Looking for some advice on the best drivers (30.xx or higher) for a nVidia
4400 card to go with a 1.3 T'bird system.  Personal experience(s) or
tightly-reasoned rationales welcome.  TIA.

Well I was just discussing this with another user on an F1 2k2 mod forum.
He was getting much higher benchmark numbers than I was.  I had the first
40.xx version drivers for win9x and he had stayed with 30.82 because, he
said, the newer drivers had transparency problems and he would wait till
they achieved whql.
So I motored over to the nvidiot site to grab the older drivers, but the
newest 40.72 drivers were 'said' to be whql candidates so I took and chance
and immeadiately gained quite a-bit.  From 21m triangles per sec at 800x600
to 24 m triangles at 1024x740  So I'm fairly pleased with the 40.72's.

Thanks, Dave.  Maybe I shoulda specified > 30.xx but < 40.xx, as I've heard
it's hard to install 40.xx over 30.xx without using an uninstaller like
Detonator Destroyer, which makes me nervous.  OTOH, I am just abt. to
reinstall the whole freakin' partition, so maybe it doesn't matter.  But
30.82, you say....

The 40x have shown an improvment on my two systems.

When I tested the 40.xx drivers, I had no problem installing them...

I run the 30.82's, though, until the release 40's are out and I'm sure the
LFS problems with the 40's are fixed.

Crimenee -Larry.  :)  I don't know.  I have my Heat DTM league to get
ready for, my Bullrun 1000 N2k2 car to figure out(why don't those big tires
like grass?)  The SSM mod with Vipers and some 'other' inferior cars is out.
I'm swamped!  I'm barely braking(err...breaking) into the 4:00 minute mark
at LeMans with big Snake-car{4:00.9}.  Gotta trim some weight !!
I haven't dloaded the last two LFS updates....What's the problem.  and
I'll tell ya if it happens.

Steve, you may want to try here http://www.omegacorner.com . He tests
and
tunes all the drivers. He talks about the new 40 series drivers and gives
them a thumbs
down. Although, I needed to run the 40.72's to play Unreal Tournament 2003
for some
reason. Everything else runs great with his latest release.

Thanks for the tip, Pete.  I was abt. to d/l the 40.xx Detonators, but his
caveat really put the chill in me.  (I used to use his Voodoo drivers.  They
were great.)
