GPL: "cannot load track" on new PC

by scot » Tue, 19 Apr 2005 04:10:04

Hi,

I just got a new PC (well hard drive and processor), so instead of
reinstalling GPL and a million patches I decided I would zip the folder and
just copy it over.  ANyway, it all works fine, until I try to race *any*
track, and it comes up with "Cannot load track" and "weekend aborted".

Do I need to set some registry settings or what else to get this working?  I
really don't want to reinstall because I probably don't have some of the
patches anymore.

Any ideas? Google was mostly concerned with when this happens just after
installing a new track.

Cheers

Haven't had this in a long time but it could be a problem with the car
textures if it happens at all tracks. Try a different car, or try removing
all files from the relevant car folder except the dat file.

That did the trick, I'm using a crappy old graphics card for the moment
which explains it.

Thanks!

Could it be a problem of some files having been made "read-only", due to
having passed via CD?

GPL is pretty much self contained in the GPL folder.
If you get the error on every track, it's a problem in the car folder.
If you get it on every car at a particular track, it's a track folder
problem.

95% of the time its cars.
Try using the cars67 folder from your original CD and then copy each
updated car over one at a time, check it works, do the next etc. Start
with the brabham.
