N2/NROS control help

by Clark Arche » Mon, 15 Dec 1997 04:00:00

After a few races, my T2 is no longer working with either NROS or
N2 itself.  It works fine with ICR2 and C:PR and NFSIISE.  I tried
deleting the control.cfg file from the N2 directory but no go.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Clark

This is getting really strange, there seems to be a rash of these
reports of late.  If I didn't know better (and I do), it sounds as if
the install program to CPR disables portions of other racing sims
already installed (ala IE's earlier releases breaking Netscape
configurations).  Has anybody ever gotten any help for Sierra Tech on
this issue (whoops, they usually tell you to run scan disk and then
re-install)?

Make sure that your gameport's properties are set to I/O 201-201.  Also
try using Thrustmater's ProPanel applet to set up your T2 in Win95.
ftp://208.129.210.78/pub/library/propanel.exe

Make sure that the T2 is device #1 and delete all other installed
devices in ProPanel.

While I would be ready to believe that Microsoft could pull something
like that, in this case C:PR was installed before N2, because I had
removed N2 from my drive and just reinstalled it yesterday so that
I could play on TEN:NROS.  After the "netscape.exe" fiasco, I really
wouldn't be surprised by much of anything from MS.  But, they did
make good on their promise for the Gold C:PR program of sending
the release version with the box and all, so there are some good
and bad people there like anywhere else.

I checked the gameport settings and they are correct.  I've d/l'd the
propanel before, but never actually installed it.  Maybe I'll give that a
whirl.  At this point, I suppose I'll have to reinstall N2 or something.

Check.  It is the only device.  Strange that it worked for a while and then
stopped.  I hate things like this.

Thanks for the pointers, Michael.
