AH mentioned her surprise at the release of the patch.
Another forum poster wondered how the pits got a beta patch.
The read me is unofficial looking.
Alisonnic... is this the real deal or a waste of time?

Yep, it IS pretty unofficial-looking, but it seems to work fine and I'm back
in real-time again!  Looks like my 1.1-induced GPL break is over; better get
back to practicing.  GF's not gonna like this at all.....

Cheers,

I don't mind, if it's official or not, as long as it works (it seems to do
:-)
Strangely the German readme doesn't seem 'unofficial' to me. Everything
there about contacting Sierra, tech support and a whole bunch of stuff about
legal issues.

it will only work another hour or two.  The beta expires Oct. 1.  and
yes, this was a leaked beta.  dangit...(always remember to back up your
.exe files when you overwrite them with a new version....)
gotta listen to my own advice

Ahhhhhhh!
I tested the US1.2 from the USPits yesterday night, and it crashed in
the middle of an online race. It never worked again. I was pretty
confused.

Well, that's it. I'm inventing a time machine.
Well, just gonna live in september for a while under Win95 ;-)

Why would you need to back-up a file that is on the CD?

Marc.

The exe on the CD is the original gpl.exe non-patched version.  Most of us
are running the gpl.exe version 1.1 and also have modified the team names
(Honda/Cooper), so if you didn't backed up your screwed unless you want to
re-install everything.  I know Im one of them, so I'll wait until it's
official to re-install GPL :)

Unless somebody post the gpl.exe 1.1 file with the Team name changes, and
that would still be illegal !

I do all that, too, but I also therefore keep the patches handy to re-apply
if necessary.  Since every popular racing game seems to be patched to the
hilt these days, you have to be well organised!

Marc.
