According to John Carmack of id Software: "The latest windows drivers from
Rendition fix the lousy GUI performance I had been complaining about to
several people.  While it may not be state-of-the-art 2d acceleration, it
doesn't get in your way anymore.  I do not consider windows performance to
be a negative for Rendition anymore."

Additionally Walt Donovan with Rendition said: "FYI, the newer drivers,
which we will make available on our web site when they are ready, fix the
s/w cursor deceleration problem."

To add more fuel to the fire, I just received my Integraph Reactor 3D card
yesterday. You can find a review of it on the Late Night website, along
with some screenshots that I captured during testing. However, if you want
to sum it up in two words: BUY IT! If you like Indycar, you will not regret
this purchase.

Just a followup to this message. If you have a Cyrix processor you
will not be able to run the Rendition ready Indycar II.  The EXE file
checks your processor and if it doesn't find at least a Pentium 100 it
will halt the program. Of course the Cyrix won't report back properly
so the program shuts down. I have been in touch with Sierra, they were
not aware of the problem prior to my call. I got a call back from one
of there software engineers after they tested it on a Cyrix based
system. He informed me that they were able to duplicate the problem
and are working on a fix for it. He said to check back in a week.

As an aside, I have reached the end of my rope with this damn Cyrix
processor since. Since I bought this processor 4 months ago I have run
into several incompatabilities with this supposedly "transparently
compatible" processor. That said, I have ordered a replacement Intel
processor.
