A long time ago, I had a 486, and GP1 (the oldest from Geoff Crammond) works
perfectly

Now, I have a PII 64 RAM Win98, and I want to play GP1 (I know I'm crazy),
but when I launch GP1, a DOS message tell me that GP1 is too big

I WANT TO PLAY GP1, HELP ME PLEASE !

testing my memory (no pun intended)

Did F1gp use expanded memory - any one?

If so simply typing emm386 in a dos window will provide expanded memory in
Win98. Otherwise...

Create a boot disk
Make sure himem.sys & emm386.exe are copied onto the disk from Windows
folder

Create config.sys on floppy

device=a:\himem.sys
device=a:\emm386.exe noems
dos=high,umb

That should free enough conventional memory (I assume this will work with
Win98 - never tried)

I just installed it a few weeks ago on my NT Pentium for nostalgy's sake
and had to fix the same problem. The trick is to create a shortcut to the
game exe file and then adjust the memory settings in the shortcut so it'll
run. IIRC you had to disable expanded memory, but I can't remember exactly.

GP1 was very base memory hungry, make a startupdisk with only dos...and it
wil work
